New Search Engine Jeteye.com Competes with Google’s My Search History Yahoo! My Web 2.0

I had the opportunity to talk with David Hayden of Jeteye yesterday about the new search engine company he’s launched today. A founder of one of the first search engines, Magellan as well as email company, Critical Path, Hayden is a proven Internet pioneer.

Jeteye is a learning search engine platform that allows users to search the web and save the results in Jetpaks. Relevant Jetpaks are displayed above normal search results. What’s particularly interesting about this is that rather than indexing raw web content, Jeteye relies on human filtering to drive search results.

What Jeteye is doing directly competes with Google’s My Search History and Yahoo! My Web 2.0 but in a very different way.

From the press release:

Jeteye Inc. today announced the launch of its shared search platform (www.jeteye.com). Featuring user created packages of self-selected search results, comments, images called Jetpaks‚Ñ¢, Jeteye enables users to search, manage and distribute information to make search and on-line exploration and publishing a more relevant, intuitive and collaborative process.

Jeteye’s search platform is the first to integrate multiple forms of on-line content, integrated with user comments, and made searchable and shareable. Searches now include social networking, Web searches, blogs, images and other digital media files, and it consistently generates more deeply relevant search results. Jeteye is populated by users who have created, managed and shared their Web searches and information gathering processes. Jetpaks™ are designed for immediate retrieval of a diverse set of archived content.

Advertisers will also find exceptional opportunities to reach customers through the viral nature of Jetpaks™. Through the life of a Jetpak™—as it is emailed from user to user and accessed through Jeteye searches—the advertising remains embedded in the original package design. Sponsorships are available for the bundled, content-specific packages which may also include sponsored links inside the Jetpak™.

Once I’ve had a chance to become more familiar with Jeteye, I’ll post a review.
