I am no AV guy either but the reception/resolution is much better and I can use the surround sound by changing the video output. I hope that makes sense. They look great but I ran into a few bugs. It turns out my TV only supports 760 dpi, not 1080. Also, there's no HDMI port on my Yamaha receiver, so the audio has to come through my TV because that does have HDMI input. Without the surround sound system connected to the PS3, I'm missing out on a lot. I'm no AV guy, so I may have something mixed up but eventually I'll get it worked out.
