Bloggers Faceoff Interview Rand and Lee

Posted by Lee Odden on Mar 14th, 2007 in Blogging, Online Marketing |

I nearly missed mentioning this. Daniel over at Daily Blog Tips does an interesting form of interview where he asks two people the same questions and posts their replies as a sort of “face off”.

In the past he’s done this with Darren Rowse and Jeremy Shoemaker as well as John Chow and Matt Coddington. This week he did such an interview with Rand Fishkin and myself, which might have been better if it were with Rand and Danny or Rand and Matt Cutts, but hey I’m not complaining. :)
It’s not much of a faceoff since SEOmoz gets 10 times the traffic Online Marketing Blog does. Despite that, many of our answers are quite similar with the exception of the questions about reading just one blog and a one word description that describes the reason for blog success. Thank you Daniel for the exposure!

  1. It was my pleasure Lee! Also the face-offs are pretty unpredictable. Last round Matt Coddington (who has been blogging for quite a short time) beat the dot com mogul John Chow.

And by the way, you are also beating Rand right now :)!

  2. Ha, trust me Daniel, it won’t be that way for long. :)

  3. Nothing personal but those interviews are empty, no more than a new form of content spam. (just an opinion) Did you say John Chow? LOL! Nuff’ said man…

  4. Yeah, the answers were edited down to fit in the little boxes, so not all the info is there. It would have been different if our answers were completely different I think.

  5. Aaron, the objective of the face-off was just to create something interesting and funny for the readers.

Readers are liking it so far, the first two editions got like 60 comments each, and that is a lot for my blog.

You are right the interviews are not that long, but I wanted to try something new.

  6. Hey Daniel, Aaron is a “glass half empty” kinda guy, so no worries. I think it’s an interesting way to do an interview.

  7. Damn right homie! =P

  8. These are great interviews, I caught the one with Rowse and Shoemaker and I just read the Rand and Lee one. For some reason they feel more honest. Not like your trying to give a bunch of marketing blah blah…just shooting from the heart.

Lee, don’t be so modest. I get just as much useful info from you as I do from seomoz.

Daniel, these are great. Keep it up :)

  9. Thanks Drew, I appreciate the comments.
