Sam, if those two workers are web savvy and have the time, it makes sense to do the SMO yourself. If you can afford it, you can hire a consultant to speed things along.

Here comes a common question

Which is better for small business companies?
Do the SMO themselves? (lets say they have 2 dedicated workers

OR

Hire a company to do it for them?

Hey Wayne, this post is from liveblogging a session at Web 2.0 Expo. I'm not sure if you've ever done that, but there's no time to format, research links and spell check writing a blog post as the speakers make their presentations.

ROI is still based on the objectives being set and met whether they are SEO, branding or public relations.

Lee, what about dropping in some related links and tidying things up (spelling, formatting et cetera)?

I think for a lot people reading this who're new to SMM & SMO, this might be a good primer for them.

For me, the ROI is still a magic box — I understand the metrics, but how do I arrive at a value for my content / effort?

Also, is it a fixed or variable value?

I've yet to read of anyone addressing this question...
