This is one of my favorite marketing books. Why? Many companies still do not segment the market the way Mooney suggests. In fact I work for a company that insists on segmenting by age. I think marketers Nike would be proud. Nike is a company who executes the concepts in Open Brand with full intent and pioneering.

Well for me it seems that online marketing indicators will soon be more important for Advertisers as well than GRPs and other offline ones. I'm waiting for that day.

Sounds like a decent read. The idea of an Open Brand is certainly something that should be addressed, and those examples are half on half off. The Victoria Secret half time show was great, but I'm missing the open angle. The Doritos example makes sense. The Burton is sort of there, but should really be pointing to letting boarders design their own (http://www.snowboard-mag.com/node/6396).

The big idea of Open Brands is one that builds a business around it... http://www.threadless.com/ comes to mind, I wish I had some more examples. But this is a viable way to start a business...on the net. How about off the net? Can user generated products be a viable strategy in other places? This is a book idea; long tail 2.
