Very interesting summary Dana,it’s very good that Google is starting to take a look at widget bait as link spam..I didn’t get a chance to hear it at SMX Advanced It would of been funny to hear the Milli Vanilli part in person…

Matt and his team should have the knowledge, financing and know-how to detect paid links. If anyone does, Google does. If not- they need to fix what they have that is broken. As far as this debate has been going on it appears that they have made strides but yet this NYSE company still asks consumers to help them out like they are a 501c3 that needs some help. Its obvious they cannot when the make a public cry.

Just fix Google and this will be all over. Period.

Interesting that sites are still ranking via reciprocal links from tactics identical to : “Dear webmaster of Google.com, Your site looks reputable and authoritative. Would you mind linking to our website, and we will return the favor for you?”
