You can’t emphasize the importance of quality content enough. SEO doesn’t measure it, but reader response does. If your content simply loads up on key words, your SOR, speed of relevance, goes way down. So there’s no gain.

Thanks Dana. We’ve started blogs for SEO and blogs for other purposes with SEO and mind and the results from the latter have been tremendous and far more sustainable in the long run.

Sooner or later, short term tactics teach a lesson. Better to take good advice from the start, but not without testing and refinement.

Thanks for reinforcing the principle that blogs should not be purely for SEO. I especially like your statement, “leverage blogs as a compliment to search engine optimization programs.”

I hope many read your synopsis and understand that quality content and providing value to the readers is key. As you said, “intentional SEO effort” is important, but too many companies think they can use a blog as an SEO shortcut. Your case studies are perfect examples.

Thanks Adam. At many of these conferences, speakers tend to focus case studies on huge companies, but I wanted to share a few good stories on what the SMB market can do.

TopRank provides businss blog advice for big fish too, like NWA Worldvacations and a $100bn Fortune 20 company, but there aren’t too many other companies that can relate to those unique situations.
