Great tips though on using social media as a way to build traffic. I’m trying to implement those same strategies and hope to come out quite successful from it.

One question that probably shows my ignorance of this topic – what are TLDR posts?

I am a student studying journalism at the University of Kansas and social media is something our journalism professors have been heavily emphasizing in our classes. This post really helps define what social media and what will and will not make it successful.

I particularly like where it said if your site is not in the search results, your site does not exist to the researcher. Consumers, and researchers, know what they want, they want it now and they want to get it in the easiest way possible. Social media is rapidly growing and those that succeed will be those that “cut through the clutter” so to speak and that offer easily attainable, solid information.

Indeed social websites can drive traffic to your blog but I think it’s not sufficient to be proactive and to offer good content and to play by the rules. You also need the help of some known users in that social networks. Even the most banal article is gold on the blog of a well known person.

So I think that you also need a little bit of luck in order to succeed.
