Hey Naoise, I had no idea how to spell your name sorry :) Thank you for commenting!

The value many traditional PR firms provide is indeed relationships as well as trust to tell stories. It's also about access to clients and the ability to provide journalists with what they need to meet the demands of news reporting and news content creation.

There are many conferences that include traditional public relations content including PRSA.org, Bulldog Reporter, PR News and regional PRSA organizations.

Thanks for the presentation Lee, it was really useful. As I mentioned to Sean (in comments on the NVI blog), I'd be interested in seeing the flip-side a little too - the inner workings of how traditional PR firms manage create buzz.

SEO of online PR efforts is sound knowledge for online marketers, but I personally am very curious how the traditional firms manage to gain so much press coverage and real-world attention (is it really just buying journalists drinks? is this the original form of 'buying PR'?). Maybe not fodder for an SEO-centric conference like Pubcon, but I doubt I am alone in the SEO world in craving an inside look at old-school PR.

BTW, I'm the mystery person at the end of the table in Joe's Crab Shack ;)
