For more visibility you can also add a listing in the internet yellow pages. It is quite similar to a web directory, but it has some improvements.

Agreed. I believe a 5 star review holds a little less weight than a 4 1/2 star review average. The real question is, do you think down the road Google will start to throw review average in the mix for its ranking algorithm in the local listings? Like- if google has 5 listings with the same citations and review number and age and similar proximity to the center of the city, will it rank the one with the better review higher?

I've definitely seen my page rankings improve when I embed a Google Map within it. I'm now going through my sites and making sure that the pages on which my Google Map appears, have some good SEO rich content on. Worth considering.

I don't think he's suggesting putting a bad review on your site intentionally, but if a legitimate concern is expressed as a review, then the counter to that (solution) can be effective as a point/counter point. In the end it's up the to listing owner to decide if they want to market themselves transparently or try and control the things people say about them.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I completed my company's Bing Local profile this morning and it took me less than 15 minutes. Now I'm just waiting on the mail confirmation before it goes live.

One additional tip: Spend some time creating a great company description using lots of customer-centered wording (You will benefit.... You can... Customers enjoy...) then use the same wording in all your online listings. Just cut and paste!

Google Maps now allows you to upload embedded video. I don't know how much that helps rankings but I would think that it would help somewhat. Great article.
