How Much Communication is Too Much? 3 Ways to Communicate More Effectively With Your Customers

Ashley Zeckman on Jul 10th, 2012     Online Marketing

Over the past few weeks my unread messages in my email account have been piling up.  Between the hourly pleas for my help in fundraising for the upcoming election to the endless newsletters from companies that want my business, there is simply no time to read all of this information.  Even worse, I am intentionally avoiding the majority of this communication because frankly, it’s irritating.

Pretend for a moment that I am your customer.  Is this the sort of reaction you would like me to have to your marketing messages that took countless hours and manpower to create?  How can you create a meaningful connection with your customers without overwhelming them with too much content?  In this post I have focused on 3 tips that you can use to communicate more effectively with your customers starting today.

Email Marketing Tactics for 2010Ready or not, 2010 is here. And according to eMarketer, 2010 is going to be a good year for email marketing. A December survey revealed that 69% of respondents plan to increase spending on email marketing efforts – more than any other marketing strategy.

To ring in the New Year, we’ve compiled 5 email marketing tactics that are likely to gain even more ground this year.

1. Integrating Email With Social Media.
This email marketing tactic – which picked up steam throughout 2009 as a way to boost customer reach – is likely to spread like wildfire throughout 2010. Consider the results of an early 2009 study by Exact Target, Ball State University and the Email Marketer’s club: 46% of marketers planned to incorporate the two marketing strategies in ‘09, compared to 13% in ‘08—a whopping 253% increase.

More SEO Goodness from Matt Cutts

I see Matt has added 3 more videos including:

Session 4: Dynamic URLs, Sitemaps and Geotargeting
Session 5: (Adds background) 301 Redirects, Content Themes, Dynamic to Static URLs and Split A/B Testing
Session 6: Supplemental Results
I think there is a lot more to learn from this than just the content of Matt’s videos. It’s also an exellent example of creating excellent content which can produce an abundance of links and traffic.

Maybe “RocketGoogle” isn’t such a great name. Since these are really the opinions of Matt Cutts and not Google per se, then maybe RocketMatt? Or MattBoom?¬† Oh, and be sure to note the disclaimer.
