Search Engine Journal Updates Design

Posted by Lee Odden on Dec 4th in Blogging News, Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

I bumped into Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal in the press room here at SES Chicago and he mentioned something about updating the SEJ design. By the looks of the screen capture above, it’s a pretty nice upgrade. Loren mentioned that the design was by Chris Pearson, the same fellow who worked on SEOBook.com and Text Link Ads.

Nice job Chris and Loren!

T-Shirt Link Bait

Posted by Lee Odden on Mar 6th in Blogging, Link Building, SEO |

The Search Engine Journal “Search Engine T-Shirt Contest” will be announcing winners soon. Be sure to check out the entries in the comments section of this post.

This contest is a good example of clever link bait. It also shows some of the creativity on the part of SEOs in the industry.

Spreadshirt is providing the shirts, RustyBrick is providing the design and the judges are listed here. I’d share some of my favorites, but since I’m judging, I’ll wait on that until after Loren announces the 10 winners.

SEJ Visits Google Japan

Posted by Lee Odden on Feb 23rd in Google, Search Industry News |

Loren Baker of Search Engine Journal and John Scott of v7n recently took a tour of the Google offices in Japan. You can view photos here.

“Google Japan does have a similar feel to what Google offices are popular for : airy workspace, a pool table, well stocked snackroom, and those Google colored stabilizer balls you always see rolling around the Google offices.”

They were able to visit with Google reps and discuss everything from local search to censorship. A little on Matt Cutts too. Sounds like a great visit.
