Online Marketing Blog is very fortunate this week to have a special interview with Chris Sherman, Executive Editor at Search Engine Land and long time observer/analyst/practitioner/advocate in the search engine marketing industry. Chris has been a instrumental influence in the growth of the search marketing industry with his 10+ year old search consulting practice, past involvement with Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies as well as his new role as Executive Editor at Search Engine Land, running the Search Marketing Now webcasts and helping to program SMX conferences.

Kevin Ryan to Direct Content at Search Engine Strategies and SEW

Posted by Lee Odden on Jun 7th, 2007 in Interviews, Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

Incisive Media announced this morning that Kevin Ryan, formerly CEO of Kinetic Results and one of my favorite columnists at iMedia Connection, will be joining Incisive Media as VP, Global Content Director, Search Engine Watch and Search Engine Strategies. Kevin also made a post on the Search Engine Watch blog.

In essence, Kevin is filling the giant shoes that Danny Sullivan left and that’s a very, very tall order. Danny has made nothing less than groundbreaking progress in a very short amount of time with Search Engine Land and from all accounts, the SMX conference.

Danny Says Goodbye to Search Engine Watch

Posted by Lee Odden on Nov 30th, 2006 in Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

Danny Sullivan has posted a nice goodbye message over at Search Engine Watch. All  of the contributors will be going with Danny and Elisabeth Osmeloski will continue as Managing Editor.

It’s pretty amazing to think Danny is moving on but I guess that’s how things grow and evolve. Search Engine Land will be his new home for covering the search engine industry as of tomorrow.¬† You can read and leave comments over at the Search Engine Watch forums.

Post Turkey Day SEO News

Posted by Lee Odden on Nov 24th, 2006 in Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

I hadn’t noticed this earlier, but there’s been a full exodus of Search Engine Watch correspondents over to Search Engine Land. It will be interesting to see what Incisive does to fill that gap.

I had no idea Michael Gray was a fan of cooking (I am too!) and he does a nice rundown of the Thanksgiving feast he prepared yesterday along with photos.

More wisdom from Todd Malicoat comes our way ala Cluetrain Manifesto in the form of “The Stunt Train SEO Marketing Manifesto“.¬† Right on the money Todd!

Danny Sullivan Moves On

Posted by Lee Odden on Aug 29th, 2006 in Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

Barry reports this morning that Danny Sullivan is leaving Search Engine Watch.

Wow. What’s next? Hell freezing over? Cats and dogs living together? What in the world will Search Engine Watch and SES be without Danny?

Seems things didn’t quite work out with Incisive Media. I think there’s less of a question as to what will Danny do without Incisive. He’s done pretty well so far and can probably do just about anything he wants on a go forward.¬† If you want to keep informed on what Danny will be doing on a go forward, he’s set up a Yahoo Group.
Best of luck to you Danny!

Happy Birthday Danny Sullivan

Posted by Lee Odden on Apr 17th, 2006 in Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

I just got into Boston for the WebmasterWorld Pubcon conference and as I am trying (in vain) to catch up on a few things, I saw Danny’s post today over at Search Engine Watch blog about having written for 10 years about search engines. Wow.

Maybe “Anniversary” is a better word than “Birthday”, but you get the point.
As usual, Danny’s post is VERY thorough, detailing how he started out all the way to a list of thanks to the people who helped him make Search Engine Watch what it is today.
