Google Webmaster Tools is a free service that provides a wealth of information directly from Google. Once you have verified a site with Google, they’ll give you access to all sorts of information.

Here are just a few features of Google Webmaster Tools:

1. Errors
Google Webmaster Tools will show all sorts of errors with a site. Not only does it show broken links on the site, but also links that are driving traffic to the site for which there is no valid page. Google even tells you pages it knows about but has been restricted from crawling. That’s good to know incase someone accidently blocks to much.

  4. I don’t mean to sound obnoxious, but do you know the difference between “to” and “too”??

    Great article nonetheless

    • Thomas McMahon says:

Yes, I know the difference. However, I did run it though Word’s grammar check and it didn’t catch any. Odd.

    • Ryvius, to be too critical about typos is two times as silly as making them in the first place. 🙂

      • Sorry, once or twice can be called a typo, but when it’s 10 times, it’s just bad spelling and bad grammar to me… Maybe I’m being critical here, but it’s only to help him to be more careful next time.
If I made so many mistakes, I would want someone to tell me. It just looks more professional when everything’s spelled correctly. I write in a blog as well, and I always try to double check when I post something, mainly out of respect for the readers. And English is not even my mother tongue…

Sorry if I sound too harsh

  5. Great tips! Some spelling mistakes but I know that sometimes the fingers are not as fast as the brain or in fact can sometimes click two keys at once or even not often enough.

Anyway even spell checkers cannot distinguish between to or too or know or no and a few more besides, still that’s life….

  6. Great article. Thanks for sharing. I love articles that are informative and straight to the point such as this one.
