Matt McGee recently reached out to a number of industry bloggers to be involved with a blog content award he’s calling “The SEMMYs“. Even though the SEJ SEM Blog Awards just happened, I thought I could at least be a judge – Matt being a good guy and all. If you read Small Business SEM, you’ll know that Matt picks the best blog posts of the week or so on a regular basis. He’s taken all of those posts from 2007 and categorized them to be voted on. This includes a few good posts from OMB like”Evaluating Client Search Marketing Readiness” in the SEO category.

Sunday Social Media News

WebProNews has posted another great video interview, this time with Todd Malicoat and Neil Patel. In this interview, Mike McDonald of WPN discusses social media optimization and digg with Todd and Neil who presented on a SMO session at SES Chicago.

Speaking of social media, Neil and Cameron’s Pronet Advertising blog was awarded “Best Blog on Social Media Optimization” in Search Engine Journal’s recent Blog Awards. Barry does the best roundup of the blog winners over at Search Engine Land though. Note to Loren: Please take notes from Barry, it would be easier to find the good stuff on SEJ!

The KBCafe Blog Awards is still taking votes until Jan 10, so be sure to visit category #11 and vote for Online Marketing Blog, Search Engine Roundtable and/or Matt Cutts.

Marketing Sherpa Blog Awards

Lee Odden on Jun 23rd, 2006     Blogging, Blogging News, Online Marketing

Marketing Sherpa announced earlier this week their blog and podcasting awards. Unfortunatley, the service they were using for the survey could not handle the traffic. The landing page for voting says they have recorded all the votes to-date, but any new votes must use a different url. The new survey is being handled by Survey Monkey.

I posted the link to the nomination form last week, but I guess some search bloggers don’t read this blog (aka Top Rank) and did not get nominated or did not nominate themselves. If you want to play, you’ve got to show up, right? Actually, quite a few very good and very popular SEO/SEM blogs did not get listed and should have. Maybe next year?

Marketing Sherpa marketing blog voting goes awry and switches to survey monkey. Please vote for “Top Rank” here.

Search Marketing Blogs

Marketing Sherpa is running their third annual blog awards with even more categories this year. It’s a testament to the growth of blogging to have some many niche topics – especially within marketing.

Of course there is a search marketing blog category and Online Marketing Blog (aka TopRank) has been nominated along with several other very popular SEO blogs. Rather than voting for just one blog in each category, you can rate each blog in each category as “excellent”, “not bad” and “blah”.

It’s kind of funny that while this blog is clearly titled, “Online Marketing Blog” many references from other blogs, press and these contests use the text from the url instead, “TopRank Blog”.

Please take a moment and vote for “Top Rank” in the “Blogs on search marketing” category.

  • Marketing to a specific consumer demographic (ie. women, kids)
