According to the Bruce Clay blog, Mike Grehan has joined Bruce Clay as VP of International Business Development. Congrats to both Bruce Clay and Mike as BC gets a very high profile SEO rockstar and Mike gets to continue flying around the world doing that SEO thing.

You may also recall that last week Bill Slawski joined Commerce 360. If you’d asked Bill what he’d be doing now a year ago, working for another company probably wouldn’t be it. However, Bill’s a very smart fellow and Li along with the Commerce 360 team are very fortunate to have him.

Dan Thies Calls it Quits

Posted by Lee Odden on Dec 28th, 2006 in Online Marketing, Search Industry News |

In a recent email newsletter from SEO Research Labs, Dan Thies announces, “As of January 1st, I am closing the doors on my SEO training programs.” That’s a pretty bold statement, but Dan’s not quitting entirely. He’s just moving the show to another venue.

I can’t provide exact details because the others involved in Dan’s new venture have yet to make their announcements. But here’s what I do know. Dan has established his authority as a search marketing expert and has been providing search marketing coaching and training for several years now. Over the years the search marketplace has become more complex and his students often have more issues to deal with than just search marketing.

Spotlight on Search - Interview with Dan Thies of SEO Research Labs

When you think of keyword research services, the name that often comes to mind these days is Dan Thies. In developing his search marketing business, he was able to find a niche in keyword analysis and successfully progress that into search engine marketing and optimization training with SEO Research Labs and also a book, the Search Engine Marketing Kit.

In this interview with Dan, find out how he started out, his take on keyword research tools, common misconceptions about search engine optimization, search engines and SEO training.

Wordtracker vs Keyword Discovery

Posted by Lee Odden on Mar 10th, 2006 in Keyword Research, Online Marketing, SEO |

There’s an interesting thread over at HighRankings Forums on Wordtracker and Keyword Discovery debating the accuracy, pros and cons of each. I’ve been a Wordtracker user for at least 6 years and have been dabbling with Keyword Discovery off and on for 2 or 3 years. Both have their pluses and shortcomings.

Of course, when I need to outsource keyword analysis, I just go to Dan Thies over at SEO Research Labs, who by the way, should be the topic of the next Spotlight on Search interview.

Update: Aaron at his newly designed SEOBook site posts a link to a free link building video from one of Dan’s teleclasses.
