Brands understand the importance of content marketing, yet most have not yet addressed their content needs on either a strategic or tactical level, according to Altimeter’s Rebecca Lieb.

Researchers for the company conducted interviews with executives actively engaged in content strategy or marketing; their findings were the basis of a new report, Organizing for Content: Models to Incorporate Content Strategy and Content Marketing in the Enterprise. Lieb and report co-authors guide brand marketers through a variety of organizational models for content, with recommendations to help companies execute an effective content strategy. 5 Ways Salespeople Can Use Social Media to Grow Leads

Lee Odden on Jul 25th, 2011     B2B, Online Marketing, Social Media

social media salespeopleOne of the practical opportunities for companies that acquire and engage customers through a sales force, is through social media content and participation.  In fact, many corporate marketing departments have found their field sales reps active on sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even YouTube before headquarters has.  Such “rogue” social media activity might be proactive, but can also create issues without adherence to corporate standards and provide conflicting experiences for customers.

A salesforce that functions as educators, consultants and in some ways “subject matter experts”, can be a formidable asset for corporate social media efforts towards engagement and customer acquisition. Rather than shutting down individual sales reps blogs and Facebook accounts until corporate gets their social strategy in place, companies should consider how to coordinate and empower sales teams as social media ambassadors of the brand to their individual circles of influence and social networks.

Integrating Salesforce & WordPress Is Easy With The Official Salesforce Plugin

Lee Odden on May 5th, 2010     Blogging

SalesForceSalesforce recently launched a WordPress plugin that allows you to add a form to your blog and capture lead details in Salesforce.

The good news here is that it’s easy to install, easy to set up a form, and integrates nicely into your WordPress theme.

You also have the ability to customize the form look and feel with CSS and you can put the form in a widget for your sidebar.

The downside is that there are no custom fields, no spam protection, and you can only create one form. I’m hoping these are limitations of the initial release and future versions will have more options.
