I’ve had a standing request for an interview with Bruce Clay for about a year now and we finally decided to just do a short one on video, which works for me and I think it will work for you as well.

Bruce Clay is one of the best known brands in the world of search marketing and if you attend Search Engine Strategies, WebmasterWorld Pubcon or ad:tech conferences, you’re sure to see him and his team on the exhibit hall and/or presenting to attendees. Thousands of people have used his SEO tools and participated in his company’s SEO training programs.

Here’s an example of what happens when your site or blog gets indexed by a search engine when things aren’t working quite right. A search on Yahoo for “SEO Blog” shows Google’s Matt Cutts at number one. Great, but take a look at the title and snippet of text.

The same search on Google shows Matt’s blog at number one as well, with the title and snippet as it should be:

After comparing search results between Yahoo and Google, I wish Yahoo would add the date a site was last indexed and I wish Google would add the “Also try” search phrases at the top like Yahoo does.

Award winning SEO blogger Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable and RustyBrick has started a new blog called the “Cartoon Barry Blog“. What will you find there?

It’s a pretty cool blog especially with the animated SitePal feature that uses Barry’s voice. The design is very slick. In fact, seeing the cool design of the Cartoon Barry blog was the last straw for me in my procrastination over when to update the design of Online Marketing Blog. Thomas is working on putting the finishing touches and hopefully we’ll have it up and running early next week.

When Online Marketing Blog was started in 2003, it was mostly a re-blog. One where I would post links to articles and sometimes offer commentary. In 2005 I changed that to focus on original content, interviews, tips, resources and more substantial commentary on news items. Yet I still had the urge to post/bookmark interesting news items, but do not have time to comment on them. Hence, the Search Marketing News Blog was born.

When PR firms and companies send me pitches, often times I will post the info at Search Marketing News. Product announcements, links to other bloggers’ interesting posts and relevant major news stories will all be found on the Search Marketing News Blog.
